Imagine a colossal theme park that boasts rides breaking records in speed, height, and length. Well, this dream has now become a reality! The impressive £740 million Six Flags theme park has officially opened its gates, offering adventure seekers an exhilarating experience like no other.
On New Year’s Eve, the eagerly awaited Six Flags Qiddiya City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, welcomed its first guests after four long years of meticulous construction. This park is notable not just for its scale but also for housing the world’s fastest, tallest, and longest rollercoaster—Falcon’s Flight—standing at an astonishing 639 feet tall and reaching heart-pounding speeds of 155 miles per hour.
But the thrills don’t stop there! For those craving more adrenaline, the Sirocco Tower takes the crown as the tallest free-standing shot ride, soaring to an impressive height of 475 feet. And if you think that's high, the Iron Rattler coaster tilts at 208 feet, claiming the title of the tallest tilt coaster globally. Meanwhile, Spitfire stands out as the tallest inverted triple-launch rollercoaster in the world.
Adding to the excitement, the Sea Stallion offers a unique rider-controlled experience, standing at 39 feet while achieving speeds up to 44 mph. Additionally, the park features the Gyrospin, a remarkable 173-foot pendulum ride, providing yet another thrilling option for visitors eager for adventure.
All these record-setting attractions are spread across six creatively themed zones, including the coral-inspired Discovery Springs, the steampunk-themed Steam Town, the enchanting firefly-lit Twilight Gardens, the treasure-hunt inspired Valley of Fortune, the lively Grand Exposition, and the action-packed City of Thrills.
Food lovers will be delighted with 29 dining choices that showcase a culinary blend of traditional Saudi flavors and international cuisines. Plus, shoppers can explore 25 themed retail outlets throughout the park.
Interestingly, this development marks the first Six Flags location outside of North America and makes it the largest theme park in Saudi Arabia. Adult tickets for unlimited access start at a reasonable £64, making it accessible for a wide range of thrill-seekers.
Construction began back in December 2021, right after the Qiddiya Investment Company announced a massive £742 million contract for the project. This park represents the inaugural operational segment of Qiddiya City, a vast entertainment complex located in the scenic Tuwaiq Mountains on the outskirts of Riyadh.
Future expansions of this ambitious city project include plans for a Formula 1 racetrack, a state-of-the-art World Cup stadium, and the Aquarabia water park, which is anticipated to open in March.
