Cosmetics & Customization:
- Hytale has expanded its avatar customization options, allowing you to truly express your unique style. From bandit masks to blindfolds and even vampire-inspired mouths, the choices are endless! And don't forget the new fantasy cotton colors - white is now available to add a touch of elegance.
- Haircuts have received a visual upgrade, with six styles getting a fresh look. From pigtails to elven-inspired cuts, your character can rock any hairstyle.
- Armor visibility toggles have been added, giving server hosts the power to control PvP and immersion rules. This feature ensures a more immersive experience for all players.
- Capes now have improved animations when running, adding a touch of flair to your adventures.
Gameplay & Balance:
- Raise your own skeletal minions with the new item drop from the mighty Praetorian Skeleton. Command an army of the undead and conquer your enemies!
- Adamantite mining has been adjusted, now requiring a Thorium or Cobalt pickaxe. Mining progression has been fine-tuned, with lower-tier pickaxes dealing less damage to higher-tier ore blocks. Upgrade your pickaxe for a significant boost in mining efficiency!
- Polar bears have received a buff, making them even more formidable foes. Be prepared for an intense battle!
- The furniture bench now offers more decorative light recipes, adding a cozy ambiance to your creations.
- NPCs such as bison, boars, cows, horses, and warthogs now drop Medium Hide instead of Light Hide, providing a more valuable resource.
- The Magma Toad has been rebalanced, with reduced tongue damage and a new ability - Headbutt. Watch out for its powerful attacks!
- Petals are now craftable, making them renewable resources. Grow sunflower seeds to farm Yellow Petals and create different colored petals for your crafting needs.
World Generation:
- WorldGen V2 is here, offering modders a wealth of documentation. New default templates, DefaultFlat and DefaultVoid, have been added using World Gen V2, resulting in clear weather and limited fog in creative worlds.
- Ore placement has undergone a major refactor, so explore new chunks to uncover the changes, especially in the Devastated Lands underground.
Farming:
- Eternal crops are now more durable, no longer breaking from accidental weapon damage. Tilled soil lifetime has been increased, lasting between 1.2 to 1.5 days, giving you more time to tend to your crops.
- Soil decay under fully grown crops has been fixed, ensuring a healthier harvest. You can now hold torches in your offhand while using the Hoe and Seeds, providing better visibility in darker areas.
- Harvested crops can be placed on the ground when crouching, making farming more efficient. Recipe requirements for Hoes have been adjusted, with different tiers unlocked at various farming bench levels.
- Copper is now Tier 2, Iron is Tier 4, and Thorium has been added at Tier 6, offering a more balanced progression.
UI / UX:
- Editor block tooltip descriptions have been improved, providing clearer information. Color names now display when hovering over color options in the Avatar Customization menu.
- The hotbar active-slot visibility has been enhanced with increased contrast and a diamond indicator, making it easier to see in bright environments like the Howling Sands.
- Memory categories are now sorted alphabetically when viewed via "The Heart Of Orbis," making navigation smoother.
- Scripted brush QoL improvements have been made, with missing entries added to filters and invalid blocks removed.
- Various bugs in existing scripted brushes have been fixed, and new decoration and cave brushes have been introduced.
- The JumpIfBlockType node now uses a single offset instead of a list, simplifying its usage.
- Inventory interaction has been enhanced with better double-click handling, allowing faster clicking. Shift + clicking on armor will now equip it directly if no armor is currently equipped in that slot.
- QERT shortcut keybinds have been added for inventory "quick actions," making item management more efficient. Shortcuts are displayed in tooltips when hovering over "quick action" buttons.
- An "FPS counter overlay" option has been added to the settings menu, allowing you to monitor your game's performance in real-time.
- Player markers have been improved, now displaying on the compass and removing the "Player: " prefix. Player names always render on the map, and toggle buttons for map/compass visibility have been added to the player list.
- Players at different heights will have distinct icons (up/down indicators) in the compass, providing better spatial awareness.
- Ophidiophobia accessibility mode has been introduced, turning snake models into hatworms for a more comfortable experience.
Audio & Visual Effects:
- All missing basic Rex sounds have been added, enhancing the game's audio experience. The bones item drag/drop inventory sound has been updated, and a bug in a Howling Sands cave track has been fixed.
- Food particle tints have been updated, adding a touch of realism to your culinary adventures.
Bug Fixes, Tech & Stability:
- A server auto-update system has been introduced, including configuration options and new commands for update management. The server can now check for and apply updates, notify players, and handle staged updates seamlessly.
- The UpdateModule core plugin has been integrated into the server boot process, allowing for efficient update management. UpdateConfig in HytaleServerConfig offers fields for enabling updates, check intervals, notification preferences, and more, with serialization support and getter/setter methods.
- A new shutdown reason, ShutdownReason.UPDATE, has been added to indicate when the server should restart for staged updates.
- New/updated commands and detailed server messages have been implemented for checking, downloading, applying, and managing updates, with player notifications and auto-apply warnings.
- The release workflow has been updated to include launcher scripts (start.sh, start.bat) for a smoother launch experience.
- Rendering shadows have been improved, fixing various issues and enhancing visual quality. Weather transitions have been adjusted to reduce jarring visuals, with more improvements planned for future updates.
- Middle click "pick block" in creative mode has been fixed, now replacing the current slot with the newly picked item when the inventory is full.
- The Asset Editor now displays documentation in tooltips, providing valuable information at your fingertips.
- Mantling detection issues have been fixed, eliminating unintended behaviors.
- A fix has been implemented to persist cleared keybinds across sessions, ensuring a consistent experience.
- Rail carts now consume and place correctly, and bed respawning in unloaded chunks has been fixed, preventing collision issues.
- Major improvements have been made to server stability, validation, ECS, localization, and timeout, ensuring a smoother gameplay experience.
- Refilling containers now targets the closest block of water, eliminating the need to aim at blocks behind/under water.
- Oversized placement previews for certain item types have been fixed, improving visual clarity.
- The Berserker haircut texture tiling issue has been resolved, and glasses textures no longer inherit cosmetic color on their lens highlights.
- Permissions for world map teleporting have been added, preventing players from teleporting anywhere without Op.
- The Emerald Wilds dungeon and other environments have been fixed, and you might just hear some new soundtracks!
- Player marker updates have been optimized, fixing issues with flickering and improving readability when zoomed in on the map.
